Archelon Turtle (Greek for ruling turtle)
Whats the size, and whats it look like?
The Archelon turtle stands at a height of 12 ft. long and 2 tons in weight.... they compare this turtle to the size of a Volkswagen beetle.
- This turtle is the biggest of all turtle's but you don't have to worry because it has been extinct for millions of years.
- This turtle was the largest prehistoric turtle to live.
- Today largest- little over a ton and 4ft. long.
- Archelon- 12 ft long and 2 ton
- color: bluish green and some where also little grey
- Had a soft shell unlike most turtles and felt like leather---- skeletal frame work
- The Archelon turtle had paddle like legs and humongous fins

Where was it found?
Habbitat: oceans in Nort America and the fossils of the Archelon were discovered in South Dakota and Wyoming, which were mostly covered with water 75 million years ago.)

What time period was it found in?

Feeding and defense habits.
The Archelon turtle uses it huge fins to defend off other predators but it usually didn't mess with other animials
it usually feed on Squids and Jellyfish because they had no teeth to chew only a long nose to snap like a snapping turtle

LIFE CYCLE AND REPRODUCTION
- Life cycle is similar to regular sea turtles
- After being hatched on shore most of the baby's would craw back to the sea and live out there lives by themselves
- Usually live around a 100 years old
- The Archelon turtle reproduced by the male fertilizes the females eggs and then they hatch on shore

There closest relative is the Leather back turtle
- Similarities are first both animals have a long beek like mouth that has a huge overbite and both digestive systems only digest soft things unlike hard and bony objects.
- Second would be they both have a soft shell unlike most that have a hard shell.
- Both also have bone framework coming from their ribs up around them.

Why did this reptile draw my attention?
This reptile drew my attention by seeing how massive this creature was, back then there wasn't people swimming and stuff in these oceans and now there are, now could you imagine swimming with this thing in the water?
